Following the shape of a stem
In the forearm piece, a lily and smaller flowers follow a long, fine stem. Thin outlines and generous open space give the design a slender silhouette. Its vertical arrangement shows how the shape of a flower can guide the overall composition.
Flowers with depth
The shoulder-blade piece takes a different approach. Roses, darker leaves and a butterfly combine in black and grey. Compare the open linework of the lily with the denser shading of the roses when thinking about the visual weight you would like in your own tattoo.
